About Us

We have been photographing weddings since 1996. At the time, Dorie was getting married and was looking for someone to creatively document her wedding, someone who would do more than “shoot the cake”.

We thought that there were brides and grooms out there who wanted wedding photography that was fresh. Since then, we’ve had the joy of being a part of the most casual backyard barbeque weddings and some of the most elegant gatherings.

In every case, we like to approach our clients the same: we listen to what each client wants, discuss the timing, the location, the portraits, the lighting and the creative possibilities.

Shoot The Cake is not a studio, it's Dorie and Guy. For the past 7 years the same people who answer your emails, your phone calls and meet with you about your wedding are the same people who are there to photograph on the day of your wedding — no surprises, no substitutes. We have photographed weddings in New Mexico, New York, Massachusetts, Florida, Alaska, Maine, Connecticut and Rhode Island.

We are proud that during the past seven years word of mouth from our satisfied clients has been a primary source of new clients. For the past two years our work has been featured in Wedding Pages magazine.

Perhaps more importantly, Guy and Dorie are documentary photographers and have photographed many other assignments in addition to weddings.

Their work has been published in Sports Illustrated, New Mexico Magazine, Blue, The New York Times, The Chicago Tribune, The Denver Post, The Albuquerque Journal and others.

We look forward to hearing from you.
